Imran Khan Gets Relief as Indian Court Pauses Exit Order
Bombay High Court lets the Bollywood actor stay in India until November 2 while his case is heard.
Indian – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Bollywood actor Imran Khan has received temporary relief after an Indian court allowed him to remain in the country until November 2.
The Bombay High Court put the government’s order on hold. The actor had been told to leave India by October 28.
The notice came after claims that he took part in a protest in Mumbai. Imran, who is 43 and a US citizen, did not accept the claim and went to court.
His lawyer called the decision unfair and against the law. He said the order was passed without proper grounds.
The appeal also said there was no proof that Imran joined the protest. It added that he did not gather people or lead anyone to the spot.
The court could not complete the hearing because of technical issues. It moved the matter to November 2.
Until then, the government order will stay on hold. This gives the actor more time to stay in India.
Imran’s partner, Lekha Washington, shared her side of the story earlier. She said they went near the protest area with his mother and a cousin.
They only wanted to ask about a friend who had been detained by the police. She said reporters quickly surrounded them there.
Imran then answered questions from the media. He said they had no demands and were not part of any group.
The protest called for the resignation of India’s chief election commissioner. It was linked to claims about changes in voter lists.
For now, the case remains before the court. All eyes will be on the next hearing on November 2, when the judges may decide the next step for Imran Khan.
