Imran Khan Announces Hunger Strike, Expresses No Confidence in Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa

The unfolding saga of Imran Khan’s hunger strike and judicial standoff continues to captivate public attention, shaping the contours of Pakistan’s political discourse amidst escalating uncertainty.

RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan, founder of PTI, has sparked controversy by announcing a hunger strike and expressing his lack of confidence in Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. Addressing the media from inside the court, Khan criticized Justice Isa’s presence on benches handling PTI cases, citing concerns over impartiality and justice.

Khan’s declaration of a hunger strike, pending consultation with his legal team, underscores his escalating confrontation with judicial proceedings. “Under Article 25 of the Constitution, justice should be free from personal biases,” Khan emphasized, hinting at a perceived bias against his party in legal matters.

The PTI leader also condemned alleged interference in his jail affairs, claiming a military presence dictated administrative decisions. “Colonels and majors wield undue influence within the system,” Khan lamented, highlighting obstacles to meeting with his legal team.

Accusing the current administration of sliding towards authoritarianism, Khan condemned what he described as a deteriorating political landscape. He criticized rising elite budgets amidst escalating utility costs burdening citizens, calling for transparent elections as the panacea to Pakistan’s woes.

Furthermore, Khan criticized the efficacy of the SIFC (Supreme Implementation and Follow-up Committee), insisting that only popular support can rescue the nation from crisis. He rebuffed political adversaries and urged intra-party unity, cautioning against public disputes that could derail PTI’s agenda.

Undeterred by adversity, Khan vowed to continue his fight from within Adiala Jail, asserting his readiness to endure hardship for his principles. “I am prepared to sacrifice for justice,” he declared defiantly, amid ongoing scrutiny over his confinement conditions.
