IESCO Claims Restoration While Murree Residents Report 40-Hour Blackout

Power Restoration Claims Clash After Murree Snowfall

MURREE – Conflicting claims have surfaced over the restoration of electricity in Murree after heavy snowfall and stormy weather disrupted power supply across the hill station. While the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) insists that electricity has been fully restored on a feeder-wise basis, residents from several areas say they have been without power for more than 40 hours, enduring freezing conditions and prolonged darkness.

According to an IESCO spokesperson, severe snowfall and strong winds over the past two days caused trees and metallic structures to collapse onto power lines, triggering multiple feeder trips. The spokesperson said that despite difficult terrain and blocked access routes, teams from construction, operations, and Grid System Operations reached affected locations on foot to clear faults. Senior officers, including the Superintending Engineer Islamabad, remained deployed in the field, while the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer Operations also visited Murree to oversee restoration work.

IESCO maintains that all feeder-level faults have been resolved and that only a limited number of individual complaints remain under process. However, residents from various localities dispute this claim, saying electricity has not been restored even after 40 hours. Many citizens have turned to social media to voice their frustration and have urged authorities to take immediate notice of the situation.

Locals argue that while feeder-wise restoration may have been completed on paper, ground realities tell a different story. They have called on authorities to clearly identify affected areas and ensure the complete restoration of power supply without further delay.
