Islamabad, January 14, 2025 – In a crucial performance review meeting, Muhammad Naeem Jan, Chief Executive of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), outlined key measures to enhance the operational efficiency and customer service of the utility. The monthly meeting, which focused on the Islamabad Circle and Rawalpindi City Circle, was attended by General Manager Operations Muhammad Aslam Khan and Chief Engineer Customer Services Ghulam Sarwar, who briefed the attendees on IESCO’s current performance.
Highlighting IESCO’s strong position within Pakistan’s power sector, Naeem Jan acknowledged the company’s achievements but stressed that further improvements were necessary. “There is always room for progress, and we must continue to refine our operations,” he said.
One of the key directives from the meeting was the enhanced use of ABC (Aerial Bundled Cables) on feeders and in areas where electricity theft has been a recurring issue. The implementation of ABC cables will help minimize theft and ensure a more stable electricity distribution network.
Additionally, the Chief Executive emphasized the ongoing installation of Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters in Rawalpindi City and Rawalpindi Cantt circles. These advanced meters are expected to significantly improve the control of electricity theft, ensure the timely collection of electricity bills, and enhance customer service.
Naeem Jan also instructed the IESCO teams to focus on the prompt installation of new electricity connections, proper transformer load balancing, and efficient meter reading. He further stressed the importance of monitoring industrial, commercial, and guest house meters to ensure compliance and improve service delivery.
“Modern technology like E-Office and the ERP system should be leveraged to streamline operations, making it easier to achieve quality results in less time,” Naeem Jan said. He warned that underperforming officers would no longer be tolerated, emphasizing that any inefficiency would be detrimental to IESCO’s mission of providing reliable and affordable electricity.
