Hina Javed Murder Case: DNA Matches Domestic Worker, Husband Cleared
CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chattha says DNA evidence points to the domestic worker, while the victim’s family rejects the findings.
Rawalpindi– (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Hina Javed murder case has taken a new turn in Rawalpindi. The police team investigating the killing has declared her husband, Dr Faisal Asghar, innocent.
According to police, the two other arrested men are the main accused. One of them is the family’s domestic worker, Zeeshan.
Hina Javed, 45, was found dead at her home on the morning of August 20. Her brother, Fahad Javed, filed the case at the Civil Lines police station. He named her husband, her father-in-law and the domestic worker.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered a special investigation team of senior officers. It is led by CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chattha.
Chattha said the team looked at every piece of evidence and studied the DNA reports. He said officers also visited Adiala Jail several times and questioned the accused for hours.
He claimed the DNA of Zeeshan matched samples found during the investigation. He added that skin particles under the victim’s fingernails also matched him, which shows she fought back.
Chattha said Zeeshan confessed during questioning. He also said Zeeshan already has a criminal record and has faced two or three earlier cases.
Police also found Dr Faisal’s fingerprints on a bed sheet and a door handle. However, Chattha said this was not enough to link him to the crime.
The team also spoke to Dr Faisal’s former wife. She told them he never raised his voice and avoided crowds. Hina’s sister said Hina never spoke of any violence from her husband in their WhatsApp chats.
The investigation report has now been sent to the Chief Minister.
Hina’s family strongly disagrees. In a media statement, they said the investigation is being pushed in the wrong direction. They fear police will file a challan of their own choice.
Her brother alleged that the domestic worker is being blamed for everything to protect the husband. He also claimed the evidence has been tampered with and that police have been friendly towards the accused from the start.
The case is still developing, and the court will decide the final outcome.
