Heavy rain lashed the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and adjoining areas during the last 24 hours, bringing respite to the people suffering from extreme heat for the last couple of weeks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Met Office predicts more rains
The Met Office, on the other hand, predicted that the rain-producing system would intensify during the next 24 hours.
Under the impact of this system, it added, thundershowers were expected in the Potohar region of Punjab, namely Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, Galyat and Rawalpindi, Neelum Valley, Muzzafarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hatyan, Bagh, Haveli, Sadhnoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Similarly, the Met Office, said that heavy rains were also likely in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) namely Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi and Mardan.
Likewise, it forecast heavy rains for Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Lahore and Sialkot during the next 24 hours.
Met Office warns of urban flooding
The Met Office warned that due to heavy rain, there could be flooding in cities like Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore and Gujranwala.
Similarly, it said that the downpour could also result in a deluge in the streams of AJK, Murree, Galyat and Mansehra.

The Met Office also warned that there could be landslides in the mountainous region of upper KP, Murree, Galyat and Kashmir, and that the people visiting these areas should remain careful.
It also urged the concerned departments to remain on their toes in order to deal with any untoward situation.
