Islamabad-Staff Reporter: Heavy Rain Expected, Punjab CM Issues Flood Alert. The Met Department has issued a weather advisory for Wednesday, forecasting continued hot and dry conditions in Islamabad and surrounding areas.

Although the dry spell persists, various regions across the country are expected to see some relief with afternoon showers.

Cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tharparkar, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Dadu, Sanghar, and Khairpur are likely to experience rainfall today.

Northern and central regions such as Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sahiwal, and Toba Tek Singh will also see rain. Additionally, Pakpattan, Multan, Khanewal, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan are expected to receive showers.

In the hilly areas of Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Battagram, Kohistan, and Swat, rain will provide some relief from the high temperatures.

Karachi Braces for Rain and Thunder as Monsoon Winds Approach

The weather department has forecasted rain for Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, and Sibi, as well as for Nasirabad, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, and Kech. This rainfall is expected to bring much-needed moisture to these typically dry areas.

In response to the anticipated heavy rains, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed relevant departments to stay on high alert to address potential urban flooding across the province. She has specifically urged the administration in Dera Ghazi Khan to be especially cautious due to the risk of floods and landslides in the Koh Sulaiman region.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of prompt action to facilitate the rapid drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas, particularly in major cities like Lahore. She has called for the mobilization of all available resources to manage the situation effectively.
