Karachi Braces for Rain and Thunder as Monsoon Winds Approach
Karachi-Karachi Braces for Rain and Thunder as Monsoon Winds Approach. Karachi is bracing for a potential weather shift, with the Met Department forecasting rain and thunderstorms for tomorrow.
Currently enjoying clear and sunny skies, the city is expected to see a significant change as monsoon winds are predicted to move into eastern Sindh today.
The Meteorological Department reports that Karachi’s maximum temperature for today is anticipated to reach 34 degrees Celsius, with the current temperature at 27 degrees Celsius. Despite the pleasant weather, residents should be prepared for possible rainfall, which might offer some relief from the heat.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz notes that the sixth monsoon spell is beginning today in Sindh, which is expected to bring substantial rain to the province. However, he clarifies that Karachi is unlikely to experience torrential rainfall.
Sarfraz also mentions that while the suburbs may see significant rain, the city itself might only receive moderate to light showers.
In addition to the weather updates, concerns about Karachi’s air quality persist. The city is currently ranked 14th globally for pollution according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) and holds the third spot within Pakistan.
