Hajj 2025: 7,000 Applications Short Despite Deadline Extensions
The Ministry aims to ensure that the full quota of pilgrims is filled ahead of the Hajj season

ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 – Despite the Ministry of Religious Affairs extending the deadline for Hajj 2025 applications three times, 7,000 fewer applications were received than the allocated quota. By the end of the third extension period, 82,000 applications had been submitted, with the ministry declaring all applicants successful.
The government has been allocated a Hajj quota of 179,210 pilgrims for this year, with half of the quota assigned to the government scheme and the other half to private operators. Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik confirmed that the cost for the government Hajj scheme would range from Rs1,075,000 to Rs1,175,000 per pilgrim.
To address the shortfall, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is exploring options to fill the remaining 7,000 vacancies. These include reopening the application process or allocating the remaining quota to private Hajj operators.
