Gul Plaza Fire Tragedy Enters Final Phase as Building Becomes Unsafe
The deadly Gul Plaza fire tragedy in Karachi has entered its final phase, with officials warning that the building’s structure is rapidly deteriorating and recovery efforts are nearing completion. Fire Officer Zafar Khan said the condition of the building is worsening with each passing day, confirming that no intact human remains are being found and that only bones are now being recovered from the rubble.
He stated that apart from the bodies already retrieved, nothing further remains to be recovered from the site. According to officials, the unstable structure has made continued rescue and debris removal operations increasingly dangerous for emergency teams.
Zafar Khan also revealed that a fire reignited in the basement of Gul Plaza a day earlier due to strong winds. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly four hours before successfully bringing it under control. Authorities have reiterated that the building now poses a serious safety risk, underscoring the urgency of concluding operations at the site.
