Govt Shuts Down Mobile, Internet Services in Select Areas Amid PTI Protest Fears

Islamabad-Pakistan authorities have decided to partially suspend internet and mobile services starting November 23 in anticipation of a protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on November 24 in Islamabad. This move is aimed at maintaining law and order and preventing potential disruptions during the protest.

According to sources from the Ministry of Interior, internet and mobile services may be suspended in various districts of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab.

The sources further indicated that a firewall will be activated on mobile internet services from November 22, which will slow down internet connectivity. The Ministry of Interior sources also noted that downloading videos and audio on social media apps will not be possible. Depending on the situation, internet and mobile services could be suspended at specific locations at any time.

It is worth mentioning that on November 13, Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, claimed that he had given the final call for the protest on November 24.

She stated that the protests would continue until their demands were met, emphasizing that the nation must decide for itself whether it wants to live in freedom.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that preparations for the protest are complete and that Aleema Khan has announced the date for the demonstration. He added that there would be no turning back this time until their demands are fulfilled.
