Govt Imposes Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under Articles 232 and 234: Law Minister

ISLAMABAD: (Mudasaar Iqbal) – Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has announced that an emergency has been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the law minister said the federal cabinet had decided to invoke the constitutional provisions after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the situation in the province.
He said the cabinet had advised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to recommend the imposition of emergency to the president in accordance with the constitutional procedure.
Azam Nazeer Tarar added that the cabinet had considered the background and circumstances before making the decision. He said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi would provide further details about the reasons that led the government to take the step.
