Google Maps Launches AI-Powered “Ask Maps” Feature

Google Maps Introduces Gemini Chatbot For Smarter Navigation Assistance

Islamabad (Web Desk)– Google Maps has received its most significant update in recent years with the launch of a new feature called Ask Maps, powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI).

The new tool integrates the Gemini chatbot directly into Google Maps, allowing users to interact with Maps via voice or text instead of typing queries. Ask Maps can provide guidance on driving or walking routes, recommend the best path, and answer questions about specific locations.

Google Maps adds Gemini AI to transform search and navigation

When activated, Ask Maps offers a chatbot-like interface where users can ask detailed questions. For example, if someone’s phone battery is running low, Gemini can suggest nearby locations such as a library. The AI provides responses in both text and audio formats, making navigation and exploration easier and more intuitive.

Gemini also tailors recommendations based on a user’s past preferences and can suggest daily travel routes, special map options, and location reviews. Additionally, it provides updated information about the world or specific locations.

Currently, Google has rolled out Ask Maps for mobile users in the United States and India, with plans to expand the feature to other countries in the coming months.
