Gilgit-Baltistan Sets October 4 As Final Solar Panel Collection Deadline

GILGIT: (Staff Reporter) – The Provincial Steering Committee for the Prime Minister’s Free Solar Scheme for Gilgit-Baltistan has set October 4, 2026, as the final deadline for selected applicants to collect their solar panels.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the committee chaired by the Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, which reviewed progress on the distribution of solar panels and arrangements for completing the process.

The committee decided to issue a final public notice, giving selected applicants one week to collect their allotted panels. The Information Department was directed to ensure wide publicity of the notice through print, electronic, social and local media.

All deputy commissioners were instructed to facilitate citizens in receiving the solar panels in their respective districts and maintain coordination with relevant departments and district storekeepers.

They were also directed to coordinate with the Water and Power Department and provide verified information about solar panel stocks available in the field, including usable and damaged units. The data will help reconcile existing stocks and determine arrangements for distributing the remaining panels.

The Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) was directed to ensure the timely transportation of solar panels allocated to IT businesses to their respective districts.

The committee instructed all concerned departments to implement the decisions within the specified timeframe so that the distribution of the remaining solar panels could be completed without further delay.
