Gilgit-(Musaib khaliq);-Numbradars in Gilgit district, including Numbradar Javed and Numbradar Qari Sanaullah, held a press conference at the Gilgit Press Club to express their support for the government’s newly introduced digital system for flour supply. They praised the initiative, stating that it will provide flour to the people in a transparent and timely manner.
The Numbradars emphasized the importance of making the digital system successful in Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure clean and transparent flour supply. They urged unregistered individuals and families to register soon, as the process is ongoing in all districts.
They also addressed recent protests in Gilgit city, attributing them to flour dealers who were inciting people to protest. However, the Numbradars noted that the people have accepted the digital system, and protests were not held in any other district except for a few places in Gilgit.
While acknowledging that the current quota is less, they assured that it will be increased after the survey is completed and corruption is eradicated. The Numbradars appealed to the Food Department to extend the survey deadline and not suspend the quota of unregistered individuals until the survey is completed, ensuring flour supply for all.
They emphasized that the digital system is a crucial step towards closing the doors of corruption and black marketing, which have plagued Gilgit-Baltistan’s flour and wheat supply for a long time.
