Health officials raise concern over increasing polio cases nationwide
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa -(Special Correspondent/Web desk)Two new polio cases were confirmed in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, raising fresh concerns about the virus’s spread. According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the affected children are from Tank district and North Waziristan. Officials have termed the situation “alarming,” warning that the virus continues to circulate in high-risk areas. To tackle the growing threat of polio, authorities will launch a special nationwide vaccination campaign next month. Parents are being urged to ensure that every child under the age of five receives polio drops during the drive to help stop the virus from spreading.
Pakistan has witnessed a worrying rise in polio cases in 2025. Earlier this month, a five-month-old child from UC Suleman Khel in Lakki Marwat tested positive for the virus.
