Islamabad: Former AJK Prime Minister’s 3 Associates Detained After Police Raid. Police conducted a raid at the residence of former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, located in Islamabad. During the operation, Tanveer Ilyas was not present at his home; however, three of his associates were apprehended by the authorities. The raid follows recent developments in a case concerning the alleged misuse of a diplomatic passport by Tanveer Ilyas.
Notably, just a day prior to the raid, the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad had granted bail to Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in connection with the aforementioned case. The bail application was heard by Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah after Ilyas’ arrest.

In court proceedings, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented the case record against Tanveer Ilyas, while the prosecution argued against granting bail. Nonetheless, Ilyas’ counsel contended that the charges against him were not grave, as the maximum punishment entailed a three-year sentence. Additionally, it was emphasized that Tanveer Ilyas had surrendered his passport.
Following the deliberations, the court approved bail for Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, setting the bail amount at one lakh rupees. The developments mark a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding the former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, a former prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested by the Islamabad police late on Sunday night.
The arrest was made by the Margalla Police in connection with the FIR lodged by a member of the former premier’s family for “forceful entry and firing in [the] family property”.
According to the FIR, Mr Ilyas, Aneel Sultan, Muhammad Ali and 25 others broke into the office of Pak Gulf Construction company situated in Centaurus Mall.
Mr Ilyas was shifted to the Margalla Police Station. His spokesperson said police scaled the walls of the former PM’s house to arrest him.
An Islamabad police spokesperson said all formalities were fulfilled before making the arrest.
