Pakistan Finance Minister Heads to IMF World Meetings

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has departed from Islamabad for the United States to take part in the World Bank Group and IMF Spring Meetings 2026, scheduled in Washington DC from April 13 to 18.

Before the main conference, he will travel to Boston to attend the Pakistan Conference at Harvard University, where he will interact with academics, policymakers, and members of the Pakistani diaspora while presenting Pakistan’s economic direction, reform agenda, and growth prospects.

During the visit, the finance minister will participate in a series of high-level multilateral and bilateral engagements with senior officials from the IMF, World Bank Group, IFC, and MIGA, along with discussions on macroeconomic stability, reform implementation, and future cooperation.

He will also hold meetings with US Treasury and State Department officials, as well as the United States Trade Representative, to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen bilateral financial ties.

Additionally, he is scheduled to meet leaders from global financial institutions, including major banks and investment firms, alongside representatives from partner countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom.

His agenda includes participation in key forums such as the G24 Finance Ministers meeting, climate finance discussions, and policy roundtables focused on global economic stability and development priorities.

Pakistan will also showcase its digital social protection model, particularly the Benazir Income Support Programme, in a World Bank hosted session highlighting innovations in government to person payment systems.

The minister is expected to attend more than 50 engagements, including investor meetings, think tank discussions, credit rating agency briefings, media interactions, and diaspora outreach events to promote investment and remittance flows.
