FBR Establishes 4 Technical Committees to Propel Tax Digitization and Combat Evasion

ISLAMABAD: In a strategic move to modernize Pakistan’s tax system and curb tax evasion, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has formed four technical committees to spearhead its tax digitization initiative. The establishment of these committees, approved by FBR Chairman Amjad Towana, marks a significant step towards expanding the country’s tax net through advanced technological solutions.
The first committee, consisting of 10 members, will focus on providing technical support for the IRS supply chain digitization. This includes the implementation of a track and trace system, integration of points of sale (POS), and digital invoicing. The committee members are Abbas Ahmed Mir, Abdul Jawad, Zaheer Qureshi, Iqbal Khan, Munir Ahmed Chaudhry, Khalid Sultan, Qayyum Rani, Ahmed Shakeel, Abdul Rahman, and Faheem Ahmed.
A nine-member team has been tasked with overseeing various enhancements in the tax system. This committee includes Naeem Hassan, Asif Rashid, Naveed Ahmed, Samar Abbas, Muhammad Sulaiman, Bilal Qasim, Miss Sajal, Faizan Zaidi, and Muhammad Ashraf.
The third committee, also comprising 10 members, is dedicated to the digitization of business processes. The members are Irshad Hussain, Gibran Masroor, Javed Iqbal, Asif Rasheed, Azhar Jahangir, Nafisa Bano, Bilal Zameer, Zahra Farooq, and Mehwish Khan.

Finally, a seven-member committee will focus on third-party data integration, data analytics, and customer relationship management (CRM). The team includes Yasmin Yusuf, Umar Riaz, Rafia Ilyas, Masood Gursi, Benish Arooj, and Usman Rashid.
These committees are expected to provide crucial technical input to the consulting firm engaged in the digitization project, ensuring that the initiative is executed effectively and efficiently. The terms of reference for each committee have been clearly defined to align with the project’s objectives, as outlined in the official documents.
