Fazlur Rehman Raises Concerns Over Pakistan’s Current Situation

JUI-F Chief Urges Democratic Stability And Constitutional Supremacy

KARACHI: (Web Desk) – Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan is facing a critical period characterized by growing security concerns, political uncertainty, and economic difficulties, stressing the need to uphold constitutional authority and democratic consultation.

Speaking during a “Meet the Press” session in Karachi, the JUI-F leader expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where he claimed armed groups were challenging the authority of the state. He also referred to criminal activity in parts of interior Sindh.

Fazlur Rehman criticized the ruling authorities, alleging insufficient attention toward addressing security and economic issues. He argued that interference in parliamentary affairs had weakened democratic institutions and warned that undermining parliament and the constitution could damage national unity.

Highlighting public concerns, he said citizens are struggling with inflation and increasing frustration over prevailing conditions. He emphasized that governance should reflect the people’s mandate and stressed the importance of consultation and parliamentary consensus in national decision-making.

Referring to political cooperation during the passage of the 18th Amendment, he said political parties had once united to restore constitutional balance through democratic means. He maintained that dialogue within the constitutional framework remains the only practical solution to ongoing political tensions.

The JUI-F chief also commented on global political trends, stating that democracy worldwide is under pressure due to the rise of authoritarianism, militarism, and unchecked capitalism. He reiterated his party’s longstanding opposition to authoritarian rule and support for democratic movements.

On regional affairs, Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan could play a constructive role in reducing tensions involving Iran and the United States, while also stressing the importance of stronger engagement with Afghanistan. He noted the close social and cultural ties between populations living on both sides of the Durand Line.
