Fazlur Rehman Joint Opposition Takes Shape After Achakzai Meeting

JUI-F chief joins hands with TTAP as opposition parties push for a united front against the government

JUI-F – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Fazlur Rehman joint opposition plan is now official news. The JUI-F chief announced this move on Thursday, right after a key meeting with Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the opposition leader in the National Assembly.

This meeting was not a small one. Maulana Fazlur Rehman brought his own team, including Kamran Murtaza and Maulana Abdul Wasay. On the other side sat Achakzai, along with PTI leaders Asad Qaiser and Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai. The talks took place inside the opposition leader’s chamber at Parliament House.

After the meeting ended, Fazl spoke to reporters outside. He kept his words simple and clear. He said JUI-F and TTAP have agreed to build a joint opposition. He called the meeting “good” and confirmed that both sides had reached basic agreement on moving forward together.

Fazl also shared their main goal. He said they want to play a joint role inside parliament. He added that more talks and consultations will continue in the coming days.

One question came up during the press talk. Reporters asked if PPP would also join this new opposition group. Fazl gave a clear answer. He said PPP is currently a part of the government, so it cannot be counted as opposition right now.

This news comes right after another major update. Just a day earlier, PPP and opposition parties had already agreed to work together on legislative matters inside parliament. So this new JUI-F and TTAP alliance adds another layer to the changing political scene.

Before this press talk, Fazl also spoke about PTI founder’s health. He said that if it were up to him, proper treatment would have already been given.

This isn’t the first sign of JUI-F and PTI coming closer. Earlier this month, reports had already suggested that PTI was reaching out to JUI-F. Sources said PTI wanted to explore a joint movement against the federal government.

According to those sources, senior PTI leaders had already met JUI-F’s top leadership. They proposed a coordinated protest plan. However, JUI-F wanted something first. The party believed that trust between both sides needed to be fully rebuilt before any joint street movement could happen.

These same sources revealed something else too. Both parties also discussed a joint election strategy. This means their cooperation might not stop at protests. It could extend all the way to the next general elections.

PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson, Shaukat Yousafzai, backed up these reports. In an interview with Geo News, he confirmed that direct meetings had already taken place with the JUI-F chief.

Yousafzai also shared an important detail. He said both parties agree on one thing: the need for an effective movement against the federal government. He added that they are close to settling several key issues between them.

So, where does this leave Pakistan’s political landscape? With JUI-F, TTAP, and PTI moving closer, and PPP already teaming up with opposition parties on legislation, parliament is entering a phase of shifting alliances. The coming weeks will show whether this joint opposition turns into real, organized action — or stays limited to talks.

For now, one thing is certain. The Fazlur Rehman joint opposition announcement marks a fresh turning point in Pakistan’s ongoing political tug of war.
