Fakhar Zaman Backs Babar Azam Amid Test Squad Omission

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal)-Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s opening batsman, has come out in support of Babar Azam, following his shocking omission from the Test squad. Zaman took to Twitter to express his concerns.

“It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam,” Zaman tweeted. “India didn’t bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023. If we’re considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team.”

Zaman’s tweet highlights the importance of standing by key players during tough times. India’s decision to stick with Kohli during his slump is a testament to this approach.

During Kohli’s lean period, he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50 in consecutive years. Despite this, the Indian cricket board and team management continued to support him. Kohli has since regained his form, demonstrating the value of patience and faith in top players.

Pakistan’s decision to drop Babar Azam has sparked widespread concern among fans and experts. Azam has been instrumental in Pakistan’s success, with a Test average of 45.93 and 2,841 runs scored.

Fakhar Zaman’s support for Azam emphasizes the need to safeguard key players rather than undermining them. With Azam’s proven track record, he deserves support and opportunities to regain form.

Pakistan’s team management should reconsider its decision, drawing lessons from India’s handling of Kohli’s slump. Supporting Azam through this challenging period could ultimately benefit the team.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram echoed Zaman’s sentiments, stating, “Fully agree with Fakhar. Babar Azam is a world-class player and needs our support.” Cricket analyst Aakash Chopra also chimed in, saying, “India’s approach with Kohli is a great example. Pakistan should follow suit.”

Pakistani cricket fans have also rallied around Azam, with many taking to social media to express their support. “Stand by Babar Azam! He’s our best batsman!” one fan tweeted.

The pressure is now on Pakistan’s team management to reconsider its decision and stand by its star player. Will they take a cue from India’s handling of Kohli’s slump and support Azam through this tough time? Only time will tell.
