Erdogan Pledges Turkey’s Support for Lebanon Amid Israeli Incursion

Israeli forces have been conducting raids in southern Lebanon for several months, uncovering Hezbollah tunnels and hidden weapon caches beneath homes, as well as invasion plans by the group, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari revealed on Tuesday.

Hagari stated that this information was being declassified, shortly after Israel announced a ground operation targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

According to Hagari, these operations had exposed detailed plans by Hezbollah to infiltrate Israel and launch an attack similar to the one carried out by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7 of the previous year.

“Our forces entered Hezbollah’s underground networks, uncovered hidden weapons caches, and seized and destroyed advanced, Iranian-made weaponry,” Hagari said.

The evidence collected during these raids, including items found beneath homes in southern Lebanese villages, will be shared with the international community, he added.

Hagari also presented videos recorded by soldiers’ body cameras showing Hezbollah tunnels beneath three Lebanese villages located just across the border from three Israeli towns.

The troops also discovered maps indicating Israeli communities and military posts, Hagari said.

“The operations we declassified tonight represent only a small portion of dozens of future operations, which will include the destruction of Hezbollah’s strategic assets and capabilities,” he said.

Hagari emphasized that these ground raids would continue until tens of thousands of Israelis displaced from border areas can safely return to their homes, though the military aims to complete the missions as swiftly as possible.

“We’re not going to Beirut. We’re not heading into southern Lebanese cities. Our focus is on the villages close to our border,” Hagari clarified.

Israeli Military Calls Up Four More Reserve Brigades
The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it would be calling up four additional reserve brigades to support operations along the northern border with Lebanon.

“This move ensures the continuation of operations against the Hezbollah terrorist organization and helps achieve operational objectives, including the safe return of northern Israeli residents to their homes,” the military stated.
