Eid al-Fitr 2025: Extended Holiday Period for Students in Punjab

Eid Holidays for Students: 5 to 6 Days Based on Moon Sighting

ISLAMABAD: Eid al-Fitr 2025 is expected to bring an extended holiday period for students across Punjab, with the break likely starting on March 29 and lasting until April 6, 2025. This announcement follows insights from the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, which confirmed that the crescent moon would be visible in most parts of Pakistan on the evening of March 30, signaling that Eid al-Fitr would likely be observed on March 31.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet on Sunday, March 30, for the official moon sighting. Once the moon is confirmed, the holiday period for students is expected to be determined based on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 30, the holidays would last five days, from Monday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 2, aligning with the federal government’s schedule for Eid. However, if the Shawwal moon is not visible on March 30, Ramadan would extend to 30 days, shifting the holidays to April 1, lasting until April 3. In this case, with the Monday holiday on March 31, the break could extend up to six days.
