Dar Discusses Pakistan-US Ties With American Envoy

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Friday, with the two sides exchanging views on Pakistan-US relations and recent regional developments.

According to the Foreign Office, the meeting focused on bilateral cooperation and the evolving regional situation. Dar welcomed the positive momentum in Pakistan-US relations and stressed that sustained dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to achieving lasting peace.

The deputy prime minister said the full and effective implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 18 was the way forward. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security while protecting the country’s national interests.

Baker acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive contribution toward regional peace and stability. She also congratulated Dar on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Ambassador-Designate Calls on Dar

Later, Dar received Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Sweden, Ahmed Amjad Ali, at the Foreign Office for a call on Friday.

During the meeting, Dar stressed the importance of expanding Pakistan-Sweden economic cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, technology, renewable energy, agriculture, education and skills development.

He instructed the ambassador-designate to focus on strengthening business-to-business connections, encouraging investment and deepening people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Dar also highlighted the importance of providing prompt and efficient consular services, especially to Pakistani students and members of the diaspora in Sweden.
