CTD Foils Terror Plot, Arrests Alleged Female Suicide Bomber in KP
Attacker admits being trained by foreign commander Shah Wali.
PESHAWAR: (Web Desk) – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has foiled a major terror plot with the arrest of an alleged female suicide attacker during a raid in Dera Ismail Khan, officials said on Tuesday.
According to CTD sources, Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) teams conducted an operation at the Sheikh Yousuf camp, where the suspect was taken into custody.
During initial interrogation, the woman admitted that she had been trained for an extended period by a deceased foreign commander, Shah Wali alias Tariq Kochi.
Security personnel recovered a commando bag, a pistol, cartridges, and two mobile phones from the suspect. Officials said the phones were being used to maintain contact with a proscribed organisation. Perfume was also found in her possession, allegedly intended to mask the smell of gunpowder.
Investigators said the suspect confessed that she had recently agreed to carry out a suicide attack. She further disclosed that the suicide jacket and final target were to be provided by another foreign terrorist commander identified as Asim.
The arrested woman has been shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
The development comes a day after security forces killed five terrorists linked to the India-backed “Fitna al-Khwarij” during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu district. During the operation, Lt Colonel Shahzada Gul Faraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah embraced martyrdom after militants targeted their convoy.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist activity since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in KP and Balochistan, which share borders with the neighboring country.
Last month, Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that law enforcement agencies conducted 75,175 intelligence-based operations across Pakistan in 2025. Of these, 14,658 were carried out in KP, 58,778 in Balochistan, while 1,739 operations took place in other parts of the country.
