Court acquits Maulana Fazl’s close aide Musa Khan in NAB case
In a major setback to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an accountability court has acquitted JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s close aide in a corruption case.
The NAB KP, which branded Musa Khan Baloch as Maulana Fazl’s frontman at the time of his arrest, miserably failed to prove any charge in the court.
In January this year, the accountability watchdog filed a reference against him, accusing him of accumulating illegal assets, embezzling official funds and making illegal appointments.
The NAB KP had arrested former divisional forest officer (DFO) Musa Khan Baloch on the charges of possessing illegal assets on September 25, 2020.
The NAB officials told the court that the suspect was possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and that he was also involved in misuse of official funds. The NAB added that the investigation team needed his physical custody to interrogate him.
The NAB had also sent a questionnaire to Musa Khan, who is also a member of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam’s central council.
They said that he was on his way to NAB office in Peshawar to submit his answers when he was arrested near Mattani in Peshawar.
