Country’s Interest Above Political Parties”

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and senior PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi addressed the media outside Parliament House, discussing the National Assembly meeting scheduled for 7 o’clock. Tarar emphasized the ongoing political consultation process, aimed at achieving complete consensus on constitutional amendments. He praised the participation of all political parties in the consultation process, calling it the beauty of democracy.

Tarar mentioned that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, while a PTI delegation met with the party’s founder chairman in Adiala Jail ¹. Despite having sufficient numbers, the government prefers a consultative approach, engaging all parties to discuss each clause in detail. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has agreed to move forward on this issue.

The Information Minister highlighted the importance of democratic thinking, consensus-building, and consultation in democratic societies. He criticized the PTI’s actions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the Chief Minister retained powers to post and transfer police officers from the IG, aiming to control people politically and blaming institutions.

Tarar condemned the PTI’s use of government resources against the federal government and threatening the party’s founder chairman with violence and destruction for treason. He emphasized that the country’s interests come first, followed by political leaders and parties. In case of an MP attack, the state will take action, ensuring continuity of governance.

The government seeks to pass constitutional amendments through consensus, rather than relying on numbers. This approach demonstrates its commitment to democratic principles and cooperation among political stakeholders. With negotiations progressing rapidly, Tarar expressed hope for completion by the end of the day.
