CM Punjab Announces 1,224 Free Flats for Workers in Taxila and Sundar Colonies

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a significant welfare initiative for workers, announcing the allocation of 1,224 flats at no cost in Taxila and Sundar labor colonies.
Chairing a crucial meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviewed the performance of the labor department and approved various welfare projects, including scholarships for workers, establishment of labor colonies, and health facilities.
The announcement also included the disbursement of 6 billion rupees for pending death and marriage grants to over 29,000 workers, a long-overdue commitment from previous administrations.
Additionally, the meeting approved the construction of two hostels for women workers in Garment City, Sheikhupura, providing free accommodation for 704 women. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized reforms in labor laws, occupational safety, and the enforcement of minimum wage regulations.

Addressing the gathering, CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted the government’s dedication to protecting workers’ rights, lamenting the lack of enforcement in laws governing domestic workers. She stressed the importance of workplace safety protocols, urging compliance with safety measures such as using proper gear for sanitary staff working on drains and manholes.
