Pakistan and Oman Set Agenda for Eighth Joint Ministerial Commission

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has chaired an inter-ministerial meeting to review preparations for the upcoming eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), the Foreign Office said.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the meeting reviewed the proposed agenda, bilateral agreements and administrative arrangements for the session, which aims to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Oman across several sectors.

The eighth session will be co-chaired by Ishaq Dar and Oman’s foreign minister. Discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, industry, agriculture and finance, alongside cooperation in oil and gas, labour, consular affairs and security.

The agenda will also include defence, climate change, civil aviation, education, media and cultural cooperation, reflecting the broad range of areas in which the two countries seek to deepen bilateral engagement.

During the meeting, Dar underscored the importance of the Joint Ministerial Commission in strengthening relations between Pakistan and Oman. He directed the relevant institutions to complete preparations and ensure effective follow-up so the session could produce tangible outcomes.

Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa attended the meeting alongside the secretaries of the Economic Affairs Division, Interior and Maritime Affairs. Pakistan’s ambassador to Oman, senior Foreign Office officials and representatives of other relevant ministries also participated.

The commission provides a platform for both countries to review existing cooperation, discuss new initiatives and identify opportunities to expand bilateral ties.
