Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Visits Diamer to Review Progress on Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project

During the visit, the Chief Secretary focused on the provision of land for the project

Chilas/Diamer: Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Arshad Majeed Mohmand paid an important visit to Diamer to review progress on the nationally significant Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project and examine issues related to land acquisition, resettlement and local development.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary focused on the provision of land for the project, rehabilitation and resettlement of affected families, confidence-building measures for the local population, and progress on key development schemes in the area.

He reaffirmed the Gilgit-Baltistan government’s commitment to resolving all long-standing and pending issues that could hinder the timely completion of the dam project. He stressed the need for stronger coordination among relevant departments and institutions, assuring that the Gilgit-Baltistan government would continue to extend full support for the uninterrupted and timely completion of the project

The Chief Secretary also inspected ongoing construction work at the dam site. The project management and technical experts briefed him in detail on the overall progress achieved so far, technical phases of the project and the future course of action.
