Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid Vows Expanded Support for Women in Chakwal and Talagang

Senior PPP Leaders Hail BISP’s Transformative Impact

Talagang — Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Senator Rubina Khalid addressed a large and vibrant women’s gathering in Dharmound, Talagang, reaffirming the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment through education and economic development.

In her address, Senator Khalid paid tribute to the legacy of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in championing the rights of the marginalized. She recalled the foundational vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s slogan “Roti, Kapra aur Makaan” and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s expansion of that vision to include education, health, and employment for all.

Underscoring the transformative role of women in society, Senator Khalid emphasized, “An educated mother is the foundation of a prosperous society.” Quoting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), she reminded the audience of the Islamic emphasis on the pursuit of knowledge by both men and women.

Highlighting key BISP initiatives, Senator Khalid described the program as a beacon of hope for over 10 million families. “BISP has not only recognized women as heads of households but has integrated them into the national identity system, expanding their access to financial assistance, political participation, and democratic rights,” she said.

She elaborated on BISP’s wide-ranging efforts, including Benazir Kafalat, Benazir Nashonuma, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, and the Benazir Hunarmand Programme. These programs, she noted, collectively aim to improve health outcomes, promote girls’ education, and build women’s vocational skills for long-term economic self-reliance.

To further increase accessibility, Senator Khalid announced the launch of mobile registration teams and the establishment of Dynamic Registration Centers in remote areas of Chakwal and Talagang, ensuring that deserving women in distant communities can be seamlessly enrolled in BISP services.
