Barrister Gohar denies Aleema Khan’s claims on Imran Khan’s release

“There was no mention of a 20-day timeline for his release, and the government never made such a promise,” Barrister Gohar emphasized.

ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a key member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has firmly rejected the claims made by Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, regarding the release of the former prime minister from jail.

Earlier, Aleema Khan had stated that the government had indicated Imran Khan’s release within 20 days, claiming that public protests and unrest had compelled the government to act. She suggested that the PTI’s ongoing protests had forced the government’s hand, leading to discussions about Imran Khan’s release. Aleema Khan also claimed that Barrister Gohar met with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to discuss this matter and that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was prepared to release the former premier in response to public discontent.

However, Barrister Gohar vehemently denied these assertions. In a telephonic conversation with a private news channel,” he categorically stated, “I have had no contact with the government on or before November 24.” He further clarified that there were no discussions regarding Imran Khan’s release and rejected any suggestion that he had provided a timeline for his release.

“There was no mention of a 20-day timeline for his release, and the government never made such a promise,” Barrister Gohar emphasized.

Aleema Khan had also criticized the delay in the legal proceedings, especially in the Jinnah House case, and called for a swift trial to prevent further wastage of time and resources. She clarified that the PTI leadership was not seeking bail but was demanding that the trials proceed without further delay, expressing concerns about the prosecution’s lack of evidence.

The back-and-forth between the two factions highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding Imran Khan’s legal challenges and the political maneuvering within Pakistan’s leadership.
