Bangladesh Restores Israel Restriction In Passport Policy
Government Reintroduces Israel Restriction In Bangladeshi Passport Regulations
DHAKA: (Web Desk) – Bangladesh has revised its passport policy by reinstating the wording “valid for all countries except Israel,” according to reports from Bangladeshi media outlets. The phrase had previously been removed in 2020 during the administration of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Officials confirmed that the restriction has now been restored in general passports, while diplomatic passports were already aligned with this policy. The interior minister stated that the decision reflects the country’s long-standing foreign policy stance regarding the Palestine issue.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Immigration and Passports explained that the change is consistent with Bangladesh’s established diplomatic position, as well as public sentiment and its stated moral framework on the matter.

Authorities emphasized that the updated passport wording is being reintroduced as part of a broader policy continuity rather than a new shift in foreign relations.
