Bangkok Bar Fire Leaves 27 Dead, Dozens Hurt in Chatuchak
Bangkok Pub Fire: Bangkok Bar Fire Kills 27
Bangkok – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – A deadly Bangkok pub fire has shocked Thailand after a Bangkok bar fire killed 27 people early Monday morning. The blaze broke out at a busy pub in the capital’s Chatuchak district, turning a night out into a tragedy for dozens of families.
Officials say the fire started at the popular Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub, close to the well-known Chatuchak Weekend Market. The venue was packed with guests when the flames took hold just before midnight.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site soon after the fire was brought under control. He confirmed that rescue workers had pulled 27 bodies from the wreckage, while several more injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Local disaster officials said 63 people were hurt in total. Out of these, 22 remain in critical condition. Doctors are working around the clock to treat burns and smoke-related injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the trouble began near the stage area. The lights went out for a moment, then a loud blast shook the building. Thick smoke quickly filled the room, making it hard for guests to see or breathe.
Many people rushed toward the back of the pub, close to the restrooms, hoping to find a way out. Sadly, there was no proper fire escape in that part of the building. This left many trapped as the fire spread fast.
A band member who survived the fire told local reporters that people were lying on the floor calling for help right after the explosion. He said the room turned dark, filled with smoke, and there was almost no air left to breathe.
Firefighters reached the pub shortly after midnight and managed to control the flames within about thirty minutes. However, by the time help arrived, the fire had already caused heavy damage to the front part of the building.
According to early reports, the victims include nine men and eighteen women. Their names have not yet been made public as officials work to confirm identities through forensic checks.
Bangkok’s governor also visited the scene and joined the prime minister in offering support to victims’ families. Authorities are now investigating what caused the fire, along with reports that the exits may have been partly blocked by tables and stalls.
This Bangkok pub fire is being called one of the deadliest incidents to hit the city’s nightlife scene in recent years. It has raised fresh concerns about fire safety rules in bars and restaurants across busy tourist areas.
Many residents are now asking whether local venues are following proper safety checks, including working exits and fire alarms. The government has promised a full investigation to find out what went wrong and prevent future tragedies.
As Bangkok mourns the loss of 27 lives, families continue to wait for updates on their loved ones. The full cause of the fire is still unknown, and officials say the probe will take time to complete.
