Australia vs Pakistan Women T20 World Cup Ends in 113-Run Rout as Perry Stars with Bat and Ball
Women T20 – (Web Desk) – Australia vs Pakistan Women T20 World Cup match saw Ellyse Perry deliver a brilliant all-round performance as Australia crushed Pakistan by 113 runs on Tuesday.
Perry smashed 71 runs off just 48 balls to power Australia to a strong total of 199 for 7. She then took two wickets for only nine runs as Pakistan collapsed to 86 all out.
This was Australia’s fourth win in four matches. The six-time T20 World Cup champions are now closing in fast on a semi-final spot.
Pakistan’s batting once again fell apart under pressure. Muneeba Ali top-scored with 32 before Perry dismissed her. Three run outs made things even worse for the struggling side.
Sophie Molineux and Annabel Sutherland also took two wickets each to wrap up the innings quickly. Pakistan have now lost all four of their group games and are out of the tournament.
Australia will next face India at Lord’s on Sunday in a crucial group match that could decide the top two semi-final places.
In other matches, New Zealand beat Scotland by six wickets to stay alive in the tournament. Izzy Sharp scored 62 and Brooke Halliday added 41 to chase down Scotland’s 132 with ease. However, New Zealand still need other results to go in their favour.
Sri Lanka also had a big day, beating Ireland by nine wickets. Captain Chamari Athapaththu smashed an unbeaten 106 off 61 balls, the highest score of the tournament so far. Ireland posted 130 for 5 but Sri Lanka chased it down with 27 balls to spare.
Sri Lanka must beat Scotland on Friday and hope for favourable results to reach the semi-finals.
