Ronaldo Scores Twice as Portugal Crush Uzbekistan in World Cup 2026 Group K

Portugal crush Uzbekistan 5-0 in Houston on Tuesday as Cristiano Ronaldo silenced every critic with a brilliant brace in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K match.

The 41-year-old superstar scored twice and made history by becoming the first player ever to score in six different World Cups. After the final whistle, an emotional Ronaldo ran to the cameras and shouted “I’m back, I’m back.”

It was a huge relief for Ronaldo who had gone 10 matches without a goal in major finals. Critics had seriously questioned whether he still deserved a place in the starting lineup.

His first goal came in just the sixth minute. He converted a low cross from Joao Cancelo with a clean finish from close range. His second came from a perfectly weighted pass by Bruno Fernandes which Ronaldo placed into the far corner.

In between those two strikes Nuno Mendes scored a stunning free kick. He caught the Uzbekistan goalkeeper completely off guard while Ronaldo acted as a decoy at the wall.

Uzbekistan had a goal ruled out after a VAR check in the first half. In the second half their goalkeeper fumbled the ball into his own net. Rafael Leao then added a fifth late on in front of 68,777 fans.

With this win Portugal now have four points in Group K. They face Colombia in their final group game. Uzbekistan sit bottom with no points and face DR Congo in a must-win match.

Ronaldo now has 10 World Cup goals in total, surpassing Eusebio as Portugal’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup finals.
