Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Faces Questions Over Screen Crease

More hands-on videos and user reports are expected as shipments begin.

WASHINGTON: (News Desk) – Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, has come under scrutiny after an early hands-on video showed a visible crease in its display, raising questions about whether the company has fully addressed one of the biggest challenges facing foldable smartphones.

The iPhone Duo is officially scheduled to begin shipping on Friday, October 23, 2026, although some customers reportedly received their devices ahead of the launch.

The hands-on footage suggests that the display crease remains visible despite early reports from the launch event indicating that the issue had been resolved.

Apple has adopted a different approach to foldable display protection than some competitors. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 uses Ultra Thin Glass, while Apple reportedly employs a softer cover material that is less expensive to replace if scratched.

According to the video, the area immediately above the hinge appears particularly soft. Running a finger across the section makes the crease both visible and detectable by touch. However, when the display is left untouched, the crease is reportedly difficult to notice.

It remains unclear how the display will perform over an extended period of use. On foldable smartphones, repeated opening and closing can affect the appearance of the crease, although the long-term durability of the iPhone Duo’s particular design has yet to be established.

More hands-on videos and user reports are expected as shipments begin. Until further testing becomes available, it is too early to draw firm conclusions about the display’s durability or whether the crease will become more pronounced over time.
