Apple Launches iOS 26.5 With New Features
iOS 26.5 Brings Cross Platform Messaging Encryption
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Apple has released its iOS 26.5 update for iPhone 11 and newer devices, introducing a range of security upgrades along with new features across messaging, navigation, and device connectivity.
The company confirmed that users can install the update by navigating to Settings, then General, and selecting Software Update.
A major feature of the update is encrypted messaging between iPhone and Android users, enabling improved cross-platform communication.
The new system allows users to share high-quality media, view read receipts, and see typing indicators between devices on different operating systems. Apple said the feature is protected through end-to-end encryption, indicated by a lock icon within chats to ensure privacy and security.
However, the feature is currently in beta, and its availability may vary depending on mobile network operator support.
The update also introduces significant changes to Apple Maps, including the addition of advertisements for the first time. Businesses will be able to pay for enhanced visibility in search results within the app.

In addition, a new “Suggested Places” feature has been added, offering users recommendations for nearby restaurants and tourist destinations based on their location.
iOS 26.5 also enhances hardware connectivity, allowing users to connect accessories such as the Apple Magic Keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse directly to iPhones via USB-C with automatic pairing support.
Apple said the update is designed to improve user experience, strengthen security, and expand compatibility between platforms and devices.
