Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid Pledges to Strengthen Pakistan-Turkey Ties Through Cultural Diplomacy
Chughtai Art Awards 2023 Celebrates Cultural Fusion in Izmir.
IZMIR: The vibrant and diverse cultural heritage of Pakistan took center stage at the Chughtai Art Awards 2023 held in Izmir, where young artists showcased their talent under the theme of ‘Cultural Kaleidoscope: Vibrant Traditions and Heritage of Pakistan’. The prestigious event, organized by the Pakistan Embassy, drew a distinguished audience, including Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkiye Dr. Yousaf Junaid, Pakistan’s Honorary Consul General in Izmir Cahit Yasar Eren, and Ambassador Naciye Gokcen Kaya from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid underscored the deep-rooted bond between Pakistan and Turkiye, emphasizing the shared cultural, religious, and spiritual heritage that unites the two nations. He expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through initiatives like artist exchanges and enhanced tourism, highlighting the pivotal role of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.
The ceremony recognized the outstanding artistic achievements of high school students, with Sümeyye Akburak of Balçova Anadolu Lisesi clinching the first prize. Asude Hafsa Bekar and Kerem Gözel of Işılay Saygın Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi secured the second and third positions, respectively, showcasing their remarkable creativity and skill.

In addition to the top honours, special recognition was bestowed upon Esma Beyza Ulaş, Eylül Akçalı, and Eylül Güneş as ‘Emerging Artists’, highlighting their potential to make significant contributions to the art world in the future. Saliha Hilal Dirik was also acknowledged with an ‘Honorable Mention’, celebrating her artistic talent and dedication.
Named after the renowned Pakistani artist Abdul Rahman Chughtai, the Chughtai Art Awards Competition has been a platform for nurturing artistic talent and promoting cultural exchange between Pakistan and Turkiye since 2011.
