Singer Ali Zafar to Make Television Comeback as Antagonist in Lahu
ISLAMABAD: (Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar is set to make his much-anticipated return to television with the upcoming thriller drama Lahu, marking his comeback to scripted Pakistani television after nearly two decades.
Adding to the excitement surrounding his return, Ali Zafar is reportedly set to take on the role of an antagonist in the drama. The darker character will see him move away from the leading-man roles audiences have traditionally associated with him.
The highly anticipated project features Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan in the lead roles, while Ali Zafar’s reportedly villainous character is expected to add further intensity to the revenge-driven storyline.
Titled Lahu, meaning “blood”, the drama has been written by Saqlain Abbas and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, who previously directed the acclaimed revenge thriller Khaie.
The high-budget revenge saga is being produced for Geo Entertainment and is expected to showcase the scenic landscapes of Pakistan’s northern areas as part of its filming locations.
Ali Zafar has enjoyed a successful career in music and film, with notable projects including Teefa in Trouble (2018). He has largely remained away from television dramas in recent years.
His last reported PTV drama appearance was Jugnu Aur Anchal in 2004, making Lahu his first major scripted television project in almost 20 years.
