Ali Zafar Speaks Out Against Body Shaming Debate

Ali Zafar Addresses Katrina Kaif Body-Shaming Debate Without Naming Anyone

ISLAMABAD: (Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has seemingly weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding comments about Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s post-pregnancy appearance, urging men to reflect on how they judge women and their bodies.

Without naming anyone, Ali shared a video on Instagram discussing what he described as the unhealthy attitudes some men have toward women’s appearance. He said he had recently come across social media posts targeting a former Bollywood colleague and co-star, with users comparing her present appearance with how she looked in the past.

Although Ali did not mention Katrina Kaif by name, his remarks came amid online criticism of the actress following her recent public appearances. Social media users have been comparing her appearance before and after motherhood, sparking a wider debate over body shaming and unrealistic beauty standards.

Ali said people need to recognise when their comments cross a line and take responsibility for their behaviour. He added that making mistakes is part of being human, but acknowledging them, reflecting on them and attempting to correct them is important.

The singer also questioned the idea that men have the right to dictate how women should look, behave or live. He said women are often judged negatively when they do not conform to standards created by others, describing such thinking as unhealthy.

Calling for greater compassion and understanding, Ali noted that people may be facing personal struggles that are not visible to outsiders. He stressed that constant criticism of others is neither healthy nor constructive.

“It’s not healthy to always criticise other people. They are all human beings and we have the potential to be nice to each other,” Ali said.

He further pointed out that beauty standards have changed over time and that men, too, face unrealistic expectations regarding their physical appearance.

The discussion emerged after Katrina Kaif became the focus of social media commentary over her appearance following motherhood. Katrina and actor Vicky Kaushal welcomed their first child last year, and her recent public appearances prompted comparisons with older photographs.

The controversy also followed remarks attributed to Pakistani entertainment commentator Dr Ejaz Waris, who reportedly faced criticism over comments concerning Katrina’s appearance and weight.

Ali did not identify anyone in his video, but the timing of his remarks has led to speculation online that he was addressing the broader controversy surrounding the actress and the issue of body shaming.
