AJK – (Web Desk) – Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has officially confirmed the AJK election date July 27 for general elections across all constituencies of the AJK Legislative Assembly. Polling will run from 8am to 5pm.

Candidates can submit their nomination papers to returning officers between June 9 and June 19. The scrutiny of these papers will take place on June 20, and a preliminary list of accepted candidates will be released the same day.

If any candidate wishes to challenge the acceptance or rejection of their nomination papers, they can file an appeal between June 21 and June 24. Appeal hearings are scheduled for June 26 and 27, with decisions expected between June 28 and June 29.

The last date to withdraw nomination papers is June 30. The final list of contesting candidates will be published on July 1, and election symbols will be assigned on July 2.

The Election Commission confirmed that the notification is effective immediately and that all arrangements will be completed according to this schedule.

In a separate development, the AJK Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to retain 12 seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees. The resolution described refugee representation as a historical and constitutional reality.

The resolution also made clear that any electoral reforms must come through the elected assembly itself. It called for consultations with political parties, bar associations, civil society, and constitutional experts before any changes are made.
