Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced his decision not to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Shehbaz Sharif as the prime minister of Pakistan.
Peshawar: Gandapur refuses to attend Shehbaz’s oath-taking over ‘incorrect mandate’. Speaking to journalists at the provincial assembly, Gandapur expressed reservations regarding the legitimacy of the mandate of the prime minister. He highlighted the absence of any evidence proving that the PM was elected with the correct mandate, citing concerns over the electoral process.
Gandapur emphasized that the prime minister’s mandate was not supported by Form 45, a crucial document in the electoral process. He asserted that it would be inappropriate to attend the swearing-in ceremony under such circumstances.
Furthermore, the CM revealed plans to prioritize the formation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, indicating a forthcoming meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan for further discussions on the matter. Additionally, he announced his intentions to visit Adiala jail to meet with Khan tomorrow, signalling ongoing political deliberations.
Responding to queries about Maryam Nawaz’s recent statements on combating corruption, Gandapur refrained from offering a definitive response, stating that he could not comment on the matter at the moment.

In a parting remark, he directed criticism towards the Nawaz family, urging them to first be held accountable for alleged corruption worth billions before drawing ‘red lines’. He called for transparency and accountability, particularly concerning the purported misappropriation of billions of rupees.
