Afghan Avalanche Tragedy: Rescue Efforts Ongoing Amidst Continuing Snowfall.

Kabul: In a swift response to a devastating avalanche that struck the village of Nakre in the Tatin valley of Nuristan province, eastern Afghanistan, rescue operations are underway to save lives and provide assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.

The avalanche, which occurred overnight on Sunday amidst heavy snowfall across various parts of the country, tragically claimed the lives of at least six individuals, according to provincial head of information and culture, Jamiullah Hashimi. Furthermore, the avalanche left approximately 30 people trapped under snow and rubble, highlighting the urgent need for rescue efforts.

Despite the challenging conditions exacerbated by ongoing snowfall, rescue teams are working tirelessly to reach those trapped and provide necessary aid. Provincial authorities, along with local volunteers, are coordinating efforts to clear snow and debris, aiming to expedite the rescue operation and minimize further casualties.

Jamiullah Hashimi emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that the number of casualties could potentially rise as rescue efforts continue amidst ongoing snowfall. However, amidst the tragedy, there is a glimmer of hope as rescue teams remain dedicated to their mission of saving lives and providing support to affected families.
