Punjab Plans Three Regional School Education Departments
North Central and South Punjab to Get Separate Education Secretaries
LAHORE (Staff Reporter): The Punjab government has decided to restructure the School Education Department by dividing it into three separate regional departments to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen the management of educational institutions across the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has assigned the provincial education minister the responsibility of overseeing the proposed restructuring.
Under the plan, three separate administrative units will be established for North Punjab, Central Punjab and South Punjab, each headed by a dedicated secretary.
The North Punjab region will comprise Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Gujrat divisions, while Central Punjab will include Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions.
Meanwhile, Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions will be placed under the proposed School Education South Punjab department.
The provincial government believes that the regional restructuring will improve administrative coordination, streamline decision-making and enhance the overall efficiency of the school education system.
The proposed arrangement is also aimed at ensuring better supervision and addressing administrative challenges across Punjab’s different regions.
