Barry Strikes Twice as Everton Sink Coventry in Premier League

Everton fight back from a goal down as Thierno Barry scores twice and moves to 10 goals this season

Thierno Barry – (Staff reporter/Web Desk) – Everton beat Coventry in Premier League action on Friday, winning 3-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The win lifts them to fifth place in the table.

Thierno Barry was the hero of the night. The striker scored two goals in just five minutes to turn the game around.

Coventry went ahead early in the second half. Yann Gboho poked the ball past Jordan Pickford from six yards in the 52nd minute.

Everton replied fast. Four minutes later, Vitaliy Mykolenko sent in a cross, and Barry headed it home from close range.

Barry struck again in the 62nd minute. His first shot was saved, but he pounced on the loose ball and tapped it in. Coventry wanted a handball call, but the goal stood.

In the 81st minute, Barry became the provider. He passed to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who hit a sharp finish from a tight angle to seal the win.

Barry now has 10 goals this season. That is already more than he scored in the whole of last season. He has six goals in his last seven games in all competitions.

David Moyes had joked that Erling Haaland “should be worried” about Barry. It may be a joke, but the form is real.

The night was special for Moyes too. He equalled Harry Catterick’s record of 592 games as Everton manager.

Everton have now won three games in a row. They also beat Newcastle twice in recent days, once in the League Cup and once in the league. They did all this without Jack Grealish, who is suspended.

Coventry had chances too. Jack Rudoni shot straight at Pickford when he should have scored. The visitors also felt they deserved two penalties, but VAR did not agree.

Frank Lampard’s side, now 16th, have lost three of their last four games.
