Jeffries Hails “American Tsunami” as Democrats Win Congress in Midterms

The House minority leader says voters backed affordability, rejected Trump’s agenda, and want results instead of revenge.

Jeffries Hails – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – Jeffries hails a historic Democratic win after his party took control of both chambers of Congress. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke to reporters on Wednesday and said the result was bigger than a normal wave.

“It wasn’t simply a blue wave. It was an American tsunami,” he said. Jeffries is set to become the first Black speaker of the House when the new Congress meets in January.

He said he felt humbled by the outcome. He promised to fight hard for every American, no matter where they live.

Earlier in the day, Jeffries appeared on the “Morning Joe” show on MS Now. He called the result a clear message against President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

Even so, the Brooklyn Democrat said his party will not chase revenge. He said voters do not want leaders to get even. They want leaders to get things done.

Jeffries said life is simply too expensive. He said Democrats ran on affordability, won on affordability, and must now govern on affordability. His focus is on lowering the cost of groceries, gas, housing and health care.

Still, big hurdles remain. Trump has threatened to use his veto power, which could limit what Democrats can pass even with both chambers.

Jeffries pointed to the housing affordability bill from July as a good starting point. Both chambers passed it with large bipartisan votes. Trump called it “a yawn” and refused to sign it, but it became law anyway after the 10-day window ended.

He also blamed the president’s war in Iran for higher fuel and fertiliser costs. Those costs, he said, push up prices at the store. He urged Trump to end the war before the new Congress begins.

Jeffries also spoke about accountability. He warned that corruption has a cost. He said Democrats will follow the facts, apply the law, and follow the Constitution. In his words, they will let the chips fall where they may.
