US Reportedly Hits Qeshm Island as Vance Seeks Peace Deal With Iran
Washington is reportedly carrying out quiet, limited attacks on Iran while its top leaders say they want peace talks to succeed.
US vs Iran – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – The United States reportedly struck Qeshm Island in Iran on Monday, according to U.S. officials who spoke to The Wall Street Journal.
The report says Washington has carried out “limited strikes” on Iran in recent weeks. One unnamed official said the campaign has been kept quiet on purpose. The goal is to avoid sending a signal that America wants a bigger war.
Qeshm Island sits off Iran’s southern coast. It is the largest island in the Persian Gulf and lies close to the Strait of Hormuz. Reports say Iran keeps anti-ship missiles, mines, drones and attack boats there, hidden in underground tunnels. That is why the island has become a possible target.
At the same time, the White House is talking about peace. Vice President JD Vance told CNN on Monday that he and President Donald Trump feel good about a possible “negotiated settlement.” He also spoke of “good progress” in the talks.
Still, Vance sounded careful. He said the Iranians are “unpredictable.” He also said Trump keeps both military and non-military options on the table.
Vance added that the U.S. has not set any deadline for a peace deal. That means talks could go on for some time.
Trump also spoke on Monday. He said America had to go to war with Iran to stop it from getting a nuclear weapon. He said the U.S. will never allow that, and that Iran understands this.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared a similar message on November 1. He said Trump would like to end the Iran conflict through diplomacy. He added that the president prefers not to use military force.
The mixed signals are hard to miss. On one side, officials speak calmly about talks and peace. On the other, quiet strikes appear to be continuing.
For now, the world is watching two things. One is whether the talks make real progress. The other is whether the strikes on places like Qeshm Island stay small or grow into something larger.
