France witnessed nationwide protests against rising inflation. The march in Paris remained largely peaceful for most of the event, according to reports.
France’s Interior Ministry said approximately 110,000 people took part in the demonstrations. However, clashes erupted towards the end of the march, with police using tear gas as incidents of arson and the burning of rubbish bins were reported.
Authorities arrested around 1,000 people, while approximately 70,000 police officers had been deployed across France to maintain security.
The demonstrations reflected widespread public discontent over economic pressures and government policies, although the scale and nature of the protests varied across the countries involved.
